Talk Topic: Why Wait? A Catholic Approach to Sex and Dating
In this presentation, Catholic speaker and evangelist Deacon Harold Burke-Sivers will explore the culture’s understanding of “dating” (e.g., exclusive adolescent relationships, friends with benefits, hooking-up, etc.) versus courtship as a period of discernment to determine whether someone of the opposite sex is a compatible, lifelong spouse. Deacon Harold will discuss the Church’s understanding of sex as covenant participation in God’s creative activity and the importance of treating our bodies as “temples of the Holy Spirit” by examining contraception vs. Natural Family Planning in marriage.
